Quick question: I just started a new game with version 0.8.6, but so far it appears that Max's name and all ??? (text before learning a person's name) is green - the same colour as for Anne. Previously it was black. Is this change intentional (are Max and Anne's characters supposed to share the same colour for the name)? Or should I report instances where this happens?

Nearing the end of Max's story (I think). Poor Rakesh, he is not defined enough.

No was intentional so is the same color

Thanks, was an easy fix I a particular case but simple (was missing the " ")
Waiting for some texts fixes writer is doing right now before uploading 0.8.7!

I got an error during the scene where Isabella just finished explaining jobs and when I clicked the option 'Thank you' it gave me an error.
It also made a traceback file... How can I send this to you or be able to help you recreate that error?
Well I think you have the "updater bug", since is not possible that the game crashes at that point. Anyway you can copy/paste the traceback here in forums (is a text file), but I'm pretty sure that is not a game bug, but a consequence of the webupdater, or maybe a bug related to the Gallery.
That might be it. I can try to download the new updated version and see if I run into the problem again.
jack1974Feb 16, 2014
Yes, also I just got a fix for the right-click in Gallery bug by Ren'Py coder that will include in next version. I'm guessing 0.8.7 might be a good release candidate

Playing the newest version, and it seems a little off on dialogue changes.
Week 01, Sunday, playing as Anne, and talking to Rakesh:
Rakesh says:
"...A star to draw the eye to its center. Settled on a bed of contrasting leaves, to make the colors glow that much more"
There is an arrow, as if Rakesh is going to say more.
However, the dialogue goes to Anne directly instead where she says,
"Wow...you um...you really..."
(There is nothing wrong with the words. It just seems that Rakesh should have a bit more to say after he says 'that much more'
shibaluvrFeb 16, 2014
Since the beginning of the game I've noticed that Rakesh doesn't have (I believe it's called) a Bindi on his forehead... I've noticed on the main menu and stats and when your relationship with him increases or decreases that the Bindi is there.
Wasn't sure if not having it on the character was on purpose...

Hmm no, in any case those lines were never changed since the first version

Ah yes, the artist had drawn it in case we wanted to use it, but in the end we didn't. So the wrong one is on the main menu, will change it

Okay, was just making sure. I think if I had seen a period after more, I wouldn't have assumed there would be more. At least it isn't a bug

Ah... It's also shown in the stats and when when your relationship with him increases or decreases.

Thanks, will modify that as well!

Okay, I think this is a bug:
Playing as Anne, week 04, Monday. You are talking to Memphis, and he says,
"Jerry's our INSTRUMENT UNKNOWN UNTIL WORD COMES IN. He's a bit of a slacker, and that's saying something coming from me."
The stuff in all caps is what I think is the bug (and yes, it is in all caps in game).
If you need a save, I can send it. Needless to say, I had a brief 'call the exorcist' moment with that
jack1974Feb 16, 2014
ROFL, yes that was probably a temporary text writer put I'll make sure to properly punish him for forgetting to replace it!!
MrEnvy8Feb 16, 2014
Scene where you're running with Sally--She says her major is "poly-sci" (should be poli-sci)
Scene where you're alone in the house with Anne-- Max's "It's no picnic, but I'll pull through" has no period
Roxanne, Halloween scene-- Since she's a stickler for grammar, she should use the subjective "Honestly, if he weren't paying my way"
When you meet Sally with Memphis at the cafe-- Max says "Thanks sally"
Dart fight-- "Wait, wait, I'm unarmed" doesn't have a name on it
Winter break: "I'm a little worried there'll be disappointed fans of the cancelled show out there, but even if their are"
Winter break, same scene: "I'm can barely heard him talking about the great crowd reaction"
The text right after the winter break scene summarizing how the rest of the break went plays twice.
Week 9 Monday -- "Do you take your Cs and call it a day" -- should be C's
Week 9 Wednesday - "Come back later I'll make sure to give you a tip" --Needs a comma after "later"
Week 9 Saturday - Should be telenovela, not telanovela
Week 10 Monday - "Hopefully they're easier going than my other prof's are" --should be "profs" with no apostrophe
Week 11 Wednesday "I can't believe professor Tasque"
Week 13 Tuesday - "No way am I gonna let douchenic get away with this"
In scenes about betraying Anne, you sometimes call her "they"
Week 15 Thurs - "Everyone in Latin House is hard at work, trying to get there last study sessions in."
- Max's "What the hell are you doing" line doesn't have a name on it
- "but I know they'll be happy when the see me up on stage"
Fixed
Week 14 Friday -- Are you supposed to be able to pick truth?
It depends on who you're in a relationship with/relationship scores.
games/scenes3_edit.rpy 100
"Because its ours for the weekend" - should be full week, doesn't it?
Fixed.
anne x isabella
week 16, saturday event: Isabella runs moves her hand (runs or moves is too much)
week 17, wednesday event: how (without 's) are you doing?
week 21, thursday shower event: the water on my head feels fantastic,
week 21, friday event: as long as I was here though
CG is now functional
which impact do grades have? There is no explanation anywhere in the Game and you are always doing good, although you learn as little as possible
fixed.
Grades:
Grades impact the quality of your ending. Otherwise they are necessary for Max to romance Anne
Week 12 Saturday, Sally date: "Seriously, it cause a big fuss on my social security card"
Week 17 Wednesday w/ Sally- "So what got you so involved in this political activism stuff." -needs question mark
Week 17 Saturday: "Rakesh did paraphrase it pretty well, even if was being a bit sarcastic"
I also had "Image 'pc 2' not found" suddenly appear in the top left of the screen during this scene. Line was "--game/scenes3_edit.rpy 2068"
Week 18 Tuesday Sally - "For a the next few hours we chat"
Week 21 Monday Sally date - "My Poly-sci professor says he'll give me extra credit"
-Max: "How you doing in that class anyway?"
-Max should probably start smiling when it gets to the "I grin" line and he starts joking
Anne's week 21 party--in her band intro, she says "I hope we can support each other and be friend all through college"
Week 21 Friday: Sallys says "I guess the gangs all here!"
fixed
Shame there's no 'happy ever after' ending though, even at 100%...
Depends on the person you're romancing
Even if it's not happily ever after, I tried to make the best ending wistfully enjoyable. Sometimes you just don't stay together, but that person can still occupy a beloved place in your heart
I noticed during the scene where Anne meets Max and finished reading the house rules that there might be a typo...
game/scenes1_edit.rpy 2297: It reads "As the other two wrestle with the reluctant Sally, I wave good night and head back", but before this Anne states that she will help Rakesh with Sally (and nothing else happened in between that would suggest that the situation has changed).
game/scenes1_edit.rpy 3077: Anne's sprite is crying from here on for the next few sequences, which doesn't make sense in the context.
game/scenes1_edit.rpy 6024: The text "Well, I think I know what I'd like to investigate!" is attributed to Anne, but from the context I am guessing it should have been Max (immediately after, Isabella says "Down, dead boy.")
game/scenes1_edit.rpy 6820: Anne says "Hey Isabella." and after Isabella speaks, Anne says "Hi Isabella! have you discovered any clues?" (game/scenes1_edit.rpy 6870), so it feels like a repeat.
game/scenes1_edit.rpy 6672: Butler's sprite is too large, so the top of his head is not shown.
game/scenes1_edit.rpy 9149: Anne continues talking and says "You know that's illegal." however her name is not displayed (so it appears to be a monologue).
game/scenes1_edit.rpy 9675: Isabella's sprite is covering Anne's sprite.
game/scenes1_edit.rpy 11447: It reads "My Mom and Dad meet us at departures" - I would have expected Anne's parents to meet them at "arrivals" since they just arrived at the airport?
game/scenes3_edit.rpy 79: Anne speaks about how "Roxanne and the others had to bow out", etc. and immediately after (game/scenes3_edit.rpy 82) it reads "Max was right, the house is pretty... cozy.", but Max never talked about the house.
Fixed
For one "sequence/path" I chose to skip the event that would have Anne organising the party. The related event after that (sorry, I didn't take note of the event date, etc.) clearly indicated that Anne decided not to host a party. However after that the path continues as if Anne is organising the party. I have noted the problematic parts:
game/scenes3_edit.rpy 3269: Event on Week 20 Wednesday - it starts with "It's time to start getting invites out."
game/scenes3_edit.rpy 4319: Event on Week 21 Wednesday - it starts with "Tonight's the big night."
If you decided to cancel the party (i.e. skip the above event), then at game/endings_edit.rpy 65, 74, 76 and 77 there are still references to Anne having thrown the party and it not having gone well (when she waves at the people she recognised).
If you skip the first scene, you should auto-skip the other scenes. Adding an extra bit if you decide to cancel at the last minute.
"Jerry's our INSTRUMENT UNKNOWN UNTIL WORD COMES IN. He's a bit of a slacker, and that's saying something coming from me."
I left this in to see how good the beta testers are. *nodnod* Don't think I forgot to change it! That would be silly!
I've changed it now, since you've found it....

Sorry, haven't had time to raise the zombie samurai ^_^
Got a small question on a Week 14, Sunday event.
It is the one where Rakesh wishes help to paint some flowers, but I may go to study. If I Press the Skip Event it sends me to Rakesh, while Play Event sends me to Roxanne (she is who I partnered up with). Is this supposed to happen? (Normally playing the Event has you help one of your Roommates)

It seems I need to rewrite that scene a bit so it's more obvious that Rakesh is the distraction, rather than the actual event.
MiakodaFeb 16, 2014
Oh, you don't need to rewrite the event. I was mostly just making sure it wasn't mixed up Changing up what is the main event, and what is the distraction is fine.
jack1974Feb 16, 2014
Uploaded 0.8.7, mostly typos and minor things, though fixes the crash in that specific Rakesh ending reported today.
About the wrong volleyball scores will check tomorrow

game/scene3_edit.rpy 1841
Isabella is speaking ("Ha, not really. This is just something to get my partner all hot and bothered.") but it doesn't say that it's her speaking making the player assume Anne is thinking it but its completely out of character. Next click shows that Isabella said that aloud because Anne replies to it.
Missing character name tag.

Managed a clean play-through with Anne with the new build, no problems with 0.8.7.
Just out of curiosity, does the amount of one's energy also affect how one's stats may go up in the afternoon/evening activities?
