Maybe "They only put such rules in..." would be better. But run the suggestion through a native speaker, maybe...

The such is unspoken, stylistically unnecessary :)

Sally's holding up air quotes around boyfriend... I guess they haven't been together long?'

I am not sure if the question mark fits. However, the single ' at the end is definitly wrong.

It's a rhetorical question, and denotes Anne's confusion. :)

you meet Sally during the first week, she has a line:

"Ohmygosh, I'm so sorry! Was I disturbing you?"

Is Sally speaking in a rush, and that's why the first word has no spaces? If so, that's cool (just making sure ;) )

Yup, she's saying it in a rushed gasp type of voice.

Week 1, at the Saturday party on the stay with Isabella option you'll get "The other guys snicker at max" Max should be capitalized.

fixed
Week 6, in the Monday encounter with Sally; towards the end you are thanking her and Sally is not capitalized.

Couldn't find this, can you give me the actual sentence? Or use the "i" cheat to get the specific line?
Week 10, there's a conversation with Isabella where she talks about "sewing my oats", should be "sowing my oats".

fixed
Week 13, when you're dealing with the dog situation. Appealing to Dominic there's a sentence with awkward in it where awkward is capitalized but shouldn't be.

fixed
Week 13, at the battle of the bands, Isabella talks about keeping your virtue "mostly in tact, mostly", intact should be all one word.

fixed
I didn't catch the specific activity it was tied to but there's a blurb that begins with "If I had a nickle...." The second sentence has wouldn't misspelled.

fixed
I also noticed during Friday evening trips to the bar I would get Dominic complaining about loot rolls. I'm gathering this should be tied to RPG gaming instead of bar trips.

He's complaining about his loot rolls, that's why he's at the bar to drink. Alchohol is medically proven to ease the ache of losing the loot roll on you new piece of gear for the third week in a row. *nodnod*

Scene 4863 should be "sight" not "site"

fixed
Scene 5664 The choice here seems to act in reverse. Skipping the flower painting mission triggers it while selecting it skips it.

This is on purpose. The Rakesh bit is a fun gag, but the scene is about something else entirely (I think it's about meeting with your study partner, I don't remember right this second)
Scene 800 Shouldn't the final score be 15 to 13 not 14 to 13?

Yes it should, the score should always be 15 to something. At the end, anyway. Whose path are you on? And did you score points every time?
Scene 3592 should be "cue" not "queue"

fixed
Scene 302 should be "waist" not "waste"

Couldn't find this one. Can you give the sentence? or which file it's in? (Scenes1,2,3,?)

- Random week: taking a nap in the afternoon spawns the text "#more#"

Yup, finally wrote these lines. Shouldn't see the "More" any... longer.
- week 14, tuesday event: the word "tell" is missing in the last sentence

Can you say which sentence you mean? Or use the "i" cheat? The last sentence in this scene is:

I head back to my own room and try to get back to sleep. Hopefully Isabella will be okay."

I'm not sure where you mean...
- week 15 thursday event: spelling failure, I think it need's to be "trying to get their last study sessions in"

fixed

Also someone mentioned Ovid is Roman. Fixed that. Now says he's a Roman Poet, rather than Greek Playwright.

Clearly homonyms are the bane of my authorial existence. Keep finding those typos folks!
nightshadengale
First off, great job on the game--I decided to play the route I was least interested in (romance Sally as Max) and wait to experience the "polished" versions of the routes I was looking forward to. Despite that, I've been loving Sally's route so far--can't wait to play the rest.

I've been jotting things down as I play, so let me just organize them and dump them here...

Biggest Bugs

-I downloaded 8.2, but I'm still getting the bug where Sally's date during week 12 automatically skips. I assume it's an issue with my savegame--how far back do I need to replay for it to work?

-I've also run into a bug where it will sometimes jump over part of a day (usually right from Saturday evening to Sunday evening.)

Gameplay

-I have trouble following where I am on the scheduler, especially since some of the text has multiple lines/characters for one activity. It's not that the text changes too fast to read, but it's disorienting if you're trying to closely watch where you are in the week + the flavor text + what that activity just did to your stats, energy and money. I'd prefer if I had to click to advance though each timeslot.

-The amount of time you have to spend sleeping to keep your energy up seems a bit unreasonable (though I realize you'd have to tweak all the other stat gains if you decreased it)

-Why does it cost money to play chess or tabletop RPGs? I see it's trying to keep all the activities equivalent, but it doesn't really make sense.

Typos/Small bugs

Spoilered for length. For the first 8 weeks I was just writing down a scene description rather than the week+date, but they're in chronological order at least

Scene where you're running with Sally--She says her major is "poly-sci" (should be poli-sci)

The scene where you're trying to make Isabella jealous with Sally in the café: Some of Max's lines at the start have no name. At one point he says "didn't I say you more than smart enough?"

Scene where you're alone in the house with Anne-- Max's "It's no picnic, but I'll pull through" has no period

Roxanne, Halloween scene-- Since she's a stickler for grammar, she should use the subjective "Honestly, if he weren't paying my way"

When you meet Sally with Memphis at the cafe-- Max says "Thanks sally"

Dart fight-- "Wait, wait, I'm unarmed" doesn't have a name on it

Winter break: "I'm a little worried there'll be disappointed fans of the cancelled show out there, but even if their are"

Winter break, same scene: "I'm can barely heard him talking about the great crowd reaction"

The text right after the winter break scene summarizing how the rest of the break went plays twice.

Week 9 Monday -- "Do you take your Cs and call it a day" -- should be C's

Week 9 Wednesday - "Come back later I'll make sure to give you a tip" --Needs a comma after "later"

Week 9 Saturday - Should be telenovela, not telanovela

Week 10 Monday - "Hopefully they're easier going than my other prof's are" --should be "profs" with no apostrophe

Week 11 Wednesday "I can't believe professor Tasque"

Week 11 Saturday - Max's name is black for a few lines

Week 13 Tuesday - "No way am I gonna let douchenic get away with this"

Week 14 Friday -- Are you supposed to be able to pick truth?

In scenes about betraying Anne, you sometimes call her "they"

Week 15 Thurs - "Everyone in Latin House is hard at work, trying to get there last study sessions in."

- Max's "What the hell are you doing" line doesn't have a name on it

- "but I know they'll be happy when the see me up on stage"

Hopefully soon someone will be able to confirm that they managed to get some romance endings! :o

Oh yeah, I can confirm that Max's best ending playing as Anne does in fact work :) I just had to do it twice because I'm silly and I didn't realize there were required stats for the ending as well as spring break, so I got the normal/mediocre ending the first time. I was about to be really sad that that was the best ending for Max, then I was like...oh wait.

Great ending by the way :P

-I downloaded 8.2, but I'm still getting the bug where Sally's date during week 12 automatically skips. I assume it's an issue with my savegame--how far back do I need to replay for it to work?

I have in the code:
[code] if test=="week12_sat":
if male and maxandsally<3:
$forcedskip=True[/code]

so you need the maxandsally variable to 3.

On week10_tue you get 1 when you agree with her to make Isabella jealous. Then, pick the option "Tell Sally you think you'd rather focus on her than Isabella", but you MUST have relationship of at least 45 to pick that option. Lastly on Valentine's day, pick the option "Try to find Sally" and if you picked the best gift, and you invited her during Winter Break, and relationship is at least 65, you'll finally get maxandsally = 3. So yeah not really easy :)

-I've also run into a bug where it will sometimes jump over part of a day (usually right from Saturday evening to Sunday evening.)

By jump you mean that doesn't display any flavor text? strange will check better!

I'd prefer if I had to click to advance though each timeslot.

Right now I put a timer of 4 seconds for auto advance, but you can also skip with CTRL or advance with click. I can put a higher delay though, since if people want to skip they can always use CTRL indeed.

Yeah those are two gameplay things  for the tabletop maybe you go to some sort of club to play? at least here (years ago though) you would pay to go in some clubs to play it with friends?

Can't seem to unlock Max's ending...?

I've followed the posted walkthrough multiple times, but every time on Week 17 Wednesday, I don't get an event with Max. Here's a line from that scene, if it helps:

game/scenes3_edit.rpy 1651

Thanks!

Hi :) Great game so far!

I have one problem. I can't seem to find the stats button anywhere. I looked everywhere in the game. Where should i be able to find it?
annyo84
I looked again and i'm sure the stats button is nowhere :( Can somebody tell me the stats for Max and Dominc (playing as Anne),pretty please?
jack1974
When the game is playing, NOT the scheduler, you look on the left of the dialogue window and you'll see the week number + day, AND below a button called "Stats":

http://i.imgur.com/SDVdy3Y.png" style="max-width:100%">

On next update I'm going to add it also on the scheduler, but need to find out where :)
Asonder
Got the update and Dominic's route seems to be working fine now, thanks!

I'm curious though, how exactly do your grades affect your playthrough? Does it have any effect on Dominic's ending?

Because I got the one where they break up after trying long distance for a while and I was wondering if that was supposed to be the best possible ending. I did get the illustration though so I'm not sure.

jack1974
Ah yes. There are two variants of the ending. The image will always unlock, but the ending texts change slightly. It depends if you get a value of 500 combining the two character's stat. In case of Dominic, if your Rational + Organized is 500 or above, you'll get a better ending. But considering to unlock the CG end you already need 300 of main and 200 of secondary, the best ending should always unlock... uhm  (I probably need to tweak that final value check!).

If you have a savegame towards the end would be useful for me to check!
jack1974
Can't seem to unlock Max's ending...?

I've followed the posted walkthrough multiple times, but every time on Week 17 Wednesday, I don't get an event with Max. Here's a line from that scene, if it helps:

game/scenes3_edit.rpy 1651

Thanks!

You're playing as Anne trying to get Max right? It seems that you didn't had the Spring Break romance scene, if you see that line (it autoskips if you had none during that event).
jack1974

Edit: Winter Break, Anne takes Isabella, the old room is black

Yes is normal, sometimes in the VN games the screen fades to black when the character thinks. Or when we ran out of budget to make another background image to be used only for a few sentences

It comes up from skipping the event, not taking it. Scene is scene2_edit.rpy 1800. Looks like it's a missing Dominic, not his lines.

Found it, thanks

Scene 5664 The choice here seems to act in reverse. Skipping the flower painting mission triggers it while selecting it skips it.

If you didn't get the kiss scenes some scenes like this one would autoskip, so even if you choose to play should skip. However shouldn't do the reverse. If you have a savegame, would help a lot :)

I also did not get Isabella-CG's/Romance although I followed your Walkthrough. Seems to be a bug somewhere.

You mean the ending, or the spring break one? again if you have savegames just before that event, please send them to me, is the fastest way to solve bugs :)
jack1974
Also found the problem with Anne/Isabella romance. The success is tied to a specific choice in a scene (week13 thursday, only if you pick "Appeal to Isabella"). I am going to change that since doesn't make much sense, and put it also in the Valentine day scene: if you give Isabella the perfect gift, that variable (called "annelovesisabella") will be increased too.
DarcieCobalt
Hello everyone,

I've been trying to play the Anne/Isabella route but I encountered some bgs along the way.

First of all the Summer Break romance scene doesn't play like it should, it doesn't even start. I first picked the massage oil for valentine's day and later reloaded it and picked the lingery but still no change. When I continue to play the game until the end I just get no romance at all (most likely because the Summer Break scene didn't happen so I suppose that would count as breaking of the romance). I have a save file from before the summer break and one when it starts, would that be of any help? If so where/how do I add it?

-Another bug happened after the Winter Break at the beginning of week 9, when Anne tells you about Chrismas and her parents etc. The dialogue happens twice before going to the week schedule.

-Aside from that I got a double Anne sprite after the volleybal competition just like the one with the double Max sprite posted earlier during the Summer Break.

-In week 19 on Saturday during the party event with Carmen, Carmen's sprite was quite big, bigger than usual and definitely bigger than Anne, looked like a bug to me.

I hope this helped, and before I end my message I want to say I did enjoy the game despite some bugs (which is to be expected as it is the beta version) and I really like the art style and dialogue. Too bad Roxanne wasn't a romanceable character, she gave me a strong tsundere vibe which would have been fun to see where it would lead. But alas no such luck :P

*edit 1 I did pick the 'Appeal to Isabelle' option but still no Summer Break scene
jack1974
Yes about Anne/Isabella see the message above yours, it would work but was really hard to spot, so please check version 0.8.3 that I just uploaded (first post new download link, or try Update from within the game).

In practice if you replay the game from the Valentine event and give Isabella the best gift (as you did), that will already increase the required variable and so you should get the Spring Break CG this time 8)

Anyway, if you encounter any bug you can send me savegames using those instructions: http://www.winterwolves.net/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=2971

Week 6, in the Monday encounter with Sally; towards the end you are thanking her and Sally is not capitalized.

Couldn't find this, can you give me the actual sentence? Or use the "i" cheat to get the specific line?

Nightshadengale does a better job of alluding to the sentence than I did, but in case it's still needed the scene is Scene 1 - 8926

Scene 800 Shouldn't the final score be 15 to 13 not 14 to 13?

Yes it should, the score should always be 15 to something. At the end, anyway. Whose path are you on? And did you score points every time?

This was running the Anne/Isabella path. Scored to open the game, then when it jumps ahead towards the end the score was shown as 14 to 12, our team ahead. Failed serve by our team leading to a point by the other team, then our team won the next point (match point). At that point it cut to saying we had won the match but displaying it as a 14 to 13 victory.

Scene 302 should be "waist" not "waste"

Couldn't find this one. Can you give the sentence? or which file it's in? (Scenes1,2,3,?)

It's the ending CG of the Anne/Isabella arc. (game/cg.rpy 302)

For some reason I'm having problems tracking the event down via saves, but yeah as I remember it's presented as Anne is going to meet with Max to study and encounters Rakesh wanting to paint the flowers. It just seemed a little counter-intuitive based on how other scenes had been show in the game. For the most part it felt like the option to Play Event was discarding the original action for this new choice, the "I was going to class but the event is not go to class and help Sally", etc. So for this situation it seemed the original action was meeting with Max to study and the Play Event was painting with Rakesh. If I wanted Anne to continue on to her study session with Max then Skip would seem the logical path, while Play Event would trigger painting. Instead it's the opposite. [This was on a Anne/Isa run]

Unbelievable! The automatic update worked! :P

But maybe change the text "proceed" to "restart game in Version 0.8.3" or something which prepares the player for the vanishing window.
biscuit
Oh man! I am SUPER excited to see Roommates is finally available to order, even as a beta! I just played the demo version of Anne's path (not the newest version though, since I notice you just updated it), and will try Max's as well before deciding if I want to purchase just Anne or Anne + Max.

I did notice some typos in the dialogue, but I think those have been addressed elsewhere in the thread. I'll try to keep my comments for the newest releases from now on.

Cool :) Need to check if I can change that, since the updater is a thing built-in on Ren'Py :)

Working on 0.8.4 right now, found several issues: CG gallery not unlocking correctly (already fixed) and some other issues in certain paths. Will probably make it in 2-3hours. I celebrated Valentine yesterday with wife so today I'm free

One question:

After I brought my relation with Isabella to 100, I would no longer get any relationship increases. With Isabella this is expected, but with the others? (What if I really enjoy fooling around? Playing the field?)
