But yeah, if Vera Blanc had f/f romance, I'd have bought it in a heartbeat, so there's that.

What's the eta? Can we pre-order it now? XD

Had Vera Blanc had a "VN Mode" or even a more familiar RPG fight system (or even a system like in the Undead Lily tech demo) I`m convinced I would've finished it.

I added it in a later update! :) You can choose at beginning of a new game to play without minigames. Just saying in case you want to finish them

:D And -that- post was what has kept me quiet from posting on these forums.

Just finished, kindof happy with the ending I got too (stopping -some- badguys as well as the villain in the title ("are you afraid of the big bad wolf Doctor?") ...Some of them got away, -but- that's what replays are for :)

With your "crowd" (or fans) I kindof see the romance questions...though, I quite liked a detective game like this. (Though I -loved- Nicole, I kindof wanted more mystery there as well, but seeing as that game's success over VB's ...the right priorities were there)

Now that I can avoid the minigames (that I sucked at) I...don't really have any problems with this game ,and will easily recommend it

BTW the comic style was ..interesting (one of the reasons I loved Archer)

Right now of course I am NOT starting any new game.

Sure, we believe that. :P
jack1974
Haha well, another game is in the works but I'm using both a writer and an artist which I trust 100% and that can work almost independently from me. So it's likely it could be even out before many titles started last year

I'd answer the poll, but uhh...

I DID buy the Vera Blanc games XD

...but I really do dig the supernatural/horror stuff, so it's probably not all that shocking.

The one thing I remember being annoyed at was being stuck on... I think a hidden object minigame? for a while?

It's been a while.

I did remember actually kinda liking the 'mind reading' segments, though. Maybe if you ever make a VN with a substantial amount of minigames, it might not be a bad idea to have a 'skip minigame' option for the people who would like to try things but not totally skip ALL the minigames?

Uhh hopefully that makes sense, it's been like an age since I played and I might be forgetting small details- plus I clearly played an old version because I didn't remember there being a 'pure VN' option.

(I am not the one to talk about art styles. You'd have to crash my computer or something to get me to complain about art styles.)
jack1974
Yes, thinking about it now, those minigames weren't really the best move. The mind-reading one maybe was fun, but still I should have made them optional from the beginning! :)

-Throws her money at the screen!-

I had looked at VB a few times, but I just couldn't pull the trigger in buying it.
jack1974
No problem! This thread was very useful, I always thought the main reason was the writing (since I wrote it myself with an editor) instead it seems was the character/settings the biggest issue (art aside). Food for thoughts :)

Jack,

As you know I bought both the games, and liked them a lot. My only complaint was the find the differences mini-games. I think I posted somewhere here that the only way I could solve them was to take screen captures, print them out and them overlay them under a bright light.

Vera might have sold better if she was marketed as a web comic, but then I'm not in the business of making and selling games.
jack1974
I thought about that, but as far as I know, there's not much money into web comic (unless you keep doing it for several years).
Pace675
Just curious did you like the art style of Luis Rojo? XD
jack1974
Yes it's good, though I don't like that kind of coloring (in that specific image). I guess tastes are tastes :)
Pace675
Haha! Touche! Fair point.

Hi!

I did buy the game (both of them)! I enjoyed them very much, actually, and was hoping to see more. I liked the mind-reading games, but it would be nice to have some more variation of puzzles (simple, two-minute puzzles).

The biggest nuisance with the game was the look-for-difference-between-two-pictures (especially since one of them in the second game had a bug). Also, it was annoying that you were forced down one path which results in romance with one character (you can't even choose not to romance him). Plus, it wasn't fun to have most choices lead to your death: you always had to pick only the right one.

Otherwise, I would love to see another attempt at this series. I didn't have a problem with the art, and I liked the premise.

I bought both games when they were on sale, but it was the RPGs that originally brought me here.

Most of the mini-games were forced or had design problems, which might turn people off. Spot-the-differences would be more interesting if the differences were more than random black marks; the fact that the black marks were placed on black spaces also made it difficult for all the wrong reasons. You would have to be willing to invest more in art assets if want to make a good spot-the-difference game. Personally, I did like the mind-reading sequences since I used play Hangman a lot.
