So a couple of things I'm wondering if people have found/tested yet for the whole Prisoner's Dilemma.

*Have you betrayed Roxanne and gotten her job interruptions at your advanced jobs?

*Have you betrayed Anne while you were on her path? You should get rejected at the spring break scene.

*Have any of you gotten your partner to betray you? This is easier when playing as Anne with Max as your partnwr.

Just curious, thanks!
Miakoda
Minor Typo. Playing as Max, Week 8 Monday, the line starts: I'm can barely hearing him talking about...

I believe the 'I'm ' should be just an I.

About the Prisoner's Dilemma:

I haven't gone looking for those specifically. It really isn't in my nature to normally do such things ;)

However, I am certainly willing to go through and try some of those a bit later, if you wish. Certainly makes sense to test those out (and make sure there are no bugs)

Well, tested it just for you. Not that I would do something like this to her ;-) (Not while trying to woo her... ) Seems fine, but I did not check 100% for typos. I get

40% relationship drop at the betrayal scene, and Anne specifically mentions the betrayal when rejecting me, spring break friday.

Miakoda
I don't know if this is a bug or not. I was doing the Max X Rakesh path, and got up to the staring contest (Week 11, Wednesday). I have Rakesh up to 65 for the relationship. I decided to help Dominic. Max gives Rakesh a kiss, and this pleases him (+5 to Rakesh), but shouldn't Dominic also get an increase of +5 since Max helped him win?

And I will be betraying Roxanne forthwith :)

It depends if Max got "ideas" with Rakesh  (the hidden variable is really called "maxideas"!) if he has, you'll see that, otherwise there's a variant and Dominic gets +5.

It seem impossible with Roxanne (when playing Max). But I won't give up yet!

Glad to know it wasn't a bug (and as you can tell from all my other previous playthroughs, too much of this is getting to be memorized :P)

Also, with regard to the Prisoner's Dilemma with Roxanne:

First time she interrupted, talking in the box about getting her vengeance, and Max saying the professor's hours were over.

So, it looks like it is working, at least on the Max path.

It does seem after betraying my partner, the character (whether Max or Anne) does have an erotic dream of sorts with Professor Tosque in Week 20 (as opposed to the normal Jade Monkey dreams the character has).

Lonestar51
What Do I need to do to get Roxanne to betray?

I tried giving the "wrong" answers about betrayal, and I tried skipping the learning scenes.

Did not work.
MrEnvy8
So the Tasque dream depends more on who you're dating than anything else. For example, lesbian Anne (Lesbianne? I'm sorry u_u) won't see the exotic dream. Unless it's been changed...

Anyway, right now the only way to get your partner to betray is to skip all the partner scenes after the first. I think that might be too hard to have happen though, so I think I want to include some additional impacts. It sounds like it's nigh impossible, so I'll be tweaking that.

Secondly, it seems like there's not enough temptation to the PD. So tonight I'll be adding a bonus of 400 grades if you get the best outcome (you betray partner doesn't). But, you'll lose 400 if the partner betrays and you don't. (Both betray gets a 200 boost, neither betray=no effect).

I hope that will give some more weight to the prisoner's dilemma, and some incentive to try out both versions. Not to mention give a bit of scheduling leeway.
jack1974
Seems a good plan to me :)

Whether you are playing as Max or Anne:

Massage in Isabella's room scene -

The following text box needs a Isabella header: "Ha, not really. This is something to get my partner all hot and bothered."

New route -

Picnic with Rakesh:

"He even breaks out the easel I gave him for Valentine's Day." - I gave him the paint set.

St. Patty's Day Dare:

Should Rakesh's sprite be covering Anne's when he gets up?

nightshadengale
What determines whether Roxanne's partner betrays her if you do the prisoner's dilemma but partner with Anne? I remember I replayed that section a couple times trying to get my stats sorted out, picking almost the same choices, and it appeared to hinge either on whether you picked Truth or Dare on St. Patrick's day, or whether you got the best gift or the second best gift on Valentine's.
JoanneLakeMichigan
Prisoner's Dilemma, etc. -

I played as Anne and chose Max for the Prisoner's Dilemma. He didn't betray me multiple times, but that's probably because his trust was reinforced by my answer to him when he asked if I had thought about it, him overhearing my answer to Roxanne in the kitchen, and not chasing after the Professor in the courtyard by the building Max was soon to be exiting from.

Also, I played as Lesbianne x Izzy and got both dreams in the classroom multiple times - The Professor of Love, and the funky monkey one ;)

P.S. I forgot to thank you for writing Mr. E :)

P.S.S. That business is spoiler tagged
Maelora
I always get the 'Professor of Love' dream with GayMax but LesbiAnne (loving that!) always gets the Indiana Jones one.

Version 0.9.1

Basically finished romancing all the characters when playing as Anne. I am still busy doing a few runs while trying different combinations of choices, etc.

Have you betrayed Roxanne and gotten her job interruptions at your advanced jobs?

If you mean where Roxanne's conversations appear in the activity window (and not something like with the one liners), then yes.

Have any of you gotten your partner to betray you? This is easier when playing as Anne with Max as your partnwr.

Yes, and I think I got all the possible combinations playing as Anne. Being betrayed, doing the betraying, both betraying and both not betraying with Roxanne and Max. And like you mentioned in a later post, I basically skipped all the partner events and also talked to Professor Tasque (but choosing to let him go) to get them to betray Anne.

  • [*] I don't think I've gotten the choice to play or skip the event on Week 18 - Tuesday (starting at game/scenes3_edit.rpy 1208), although I am planning a few more playthroughs to test this. What are the conditions? Or is this a bug?

After thinking a bit about the prisoner dilemma sequence, I believe this is not what it says:

    Prisoner Dilemma example:

Police stops two guys carrying firearms. The seperates them, and tells them:

One rats out: He is crown witness, goes free, the other spends six years in jail.

Both keep silent: 1 year each for posession of illegal firearm.

Both rat out: both get convicted, but only for three years because of confession.

The main point of the prisoner dilemma is that the hurt to the betrayed is worse that the benifit for the betrayer. Which means, both betray means the prisoners are worse off than both are faithful. The "warden" in the typical scenario has no interest other than to punish the prisoners.

    In the game

both get a C if both betray - which means both pass without effort. If you play Anne you might care about grades, but usually what matters is pass/no pass. Thus there is a big temptation for the prisoners to coordinate a "break faith": If both ask for answers and the other knows/approves it, there will not be bad blood later on.

I can see how Prof. Tasque has a different motivation than the typical warden, thus setting up the scenario in a different way. It just moves the scenario outside the typical prisoner dilemma.

The same reasoning goes for the proposed rule change:
Secondly, it seems like there's not enough temptation to the PD. So tonight I'll be adding a bonus of 400 grades if you get the best outcome (you betray partner doesn't). But, you'll lose 400 if the partner betrays and you don't. (Both betray gets a 200 boost, neither betray=no effect).

Ah well, I get really nitpicky sometimes.
    jack1974
mizu_ki: thanks, fixed everything you reported! The only thing I couldn't find is Rakesh covering Anne's sprite. When you see it on screen can you please press "i" key to display the line number in the code where it happens? so I can check better!

Onniyuri: thanks checked all the typos and fixed.

[*] I thought the choice to play or skip the event on Week 12 - Friday (starts at game/scenes2_edit.rpy 3841) would appear when you're romancing Isabella, however it did not. Are there conditions for this to happen? Or is this a bug?

No it appears only when you're romancing Sally or Dominic, not Isabella.

I don't think I've gotten the choice to play or skip the event on Week 18 - Tuesday (starting at game/scenes3_edit.rpy 1208), although I am planning a few more playthroughs to test this. What are the conditions? Or is this a bug?

No you should get the choice, however it will play only in certain conditions: if you play as Anne and are romancing Dominic or Max (and have enough relationship with "the other") and if you play as Max and are romancing Isabella or Sally (like before, have enough relationship with "the other"). If you don't met those conditions will just display a generic texts (nobody is jealous).
    jack1974

Ah well, I get really nitpicky sometimes.

Haha is no problem, feedback is always welcome. However at this point I'm not going to do any big changes to the game like rewriting this whole path, since is basically almost ready to ship. So maybe is not a prisoner's dilemma in the strict meaning of the term

Sorry if this has already been mentioned

    Anne's date with Rakesh

Week 14 Picnic date: the line is "I try out some goofy poses..." and on the top of the screen it says "Image 'i_anne' can't take parameters 'wink'. (Perhaps you got the name wrong?)"

    jack1974
Ah no, will check this one. Or maybe just add a wink pose to Anne :)
