In this thread will post the various minor fixes of issues that will show up during the "soft release". I've now reached a stage where I feel confident updating the version directly live on the site, since all recent changes were only minor bugfixes :)

Download it here:

What's New in 1.0.5

- added a text at end of each damage skill in the character screen showing how the damage is calculated (physical or magical) and if it's an elemental attack or not. Hopefully will help to clarify the confusion :)

- fixed some lines at end of Galanna quest that were spoken erroneously by "Lugal servant"

- fixed a weird bug that would prevent talking with a love interest permanently once in act3, if you replayed his/her romance ending from gallery and then immediately started a new game

What's New in 1.0.4

- auto attributes now picks arcane more rarely for Ranger and other warrior classes

- Critical Hit description now correctly reports that works only on a staggered target

- during the liberty challenge, powered up Chalassa duel fight (speed mostly), otherwise in Easy mode was possible to kill her too soon (like with a Hunter) and the game would crash

- fixed some various typos on skills/effects

What's New in 1.0.3

- disabled the cheat in battles with conditions, otherwise they break the game

- during the save villagers scene, now the difficulty of combat is reflected also on enemies count and not just level! in Easy you'll face max 3 enemies, in high at least 5 enemies, and in medium a mid-way

- the Chant of Nightmare condition effect was displaying the wrong icon (skill was OK)

What's New in 1.0.2

- added a CHEAT MODE that works only in Easy level: pressing the "c" key in battle will kill all enemies with a powerful attack

- added bedroom BG in the "suggestive content off" romance CGs so they're not making love in the pool with the clothes on

- in the assassin fight, he won't spam Bandages anymore (he still uses it but not so frequently). Also in Easy/Normal difficulty party auto-heals by 50% before the battle

- the load/save screen now can display over 10 pages! (the numbered buttons at top change when you press prev/next)

What's New in 1.0.1

- Vaelis' Focus Target bonus wasn't working anymore (this was introduced when splitting it from the Take Aim effect). Now they both work! :)

- tweaked HP/attack/defense of the act2 slaves fights to make them shorter (difficulty should be more or less the same)

Quick question, as my search was foiled by steam tunnels....

Will this get a Steam code for purchases made on the site, once the game does end up on Steam?
jack1974
Yes of course, as always!
AlexTheStampede
Yes of course, as always!

Awesome, just purchased.... and noticed that in the cart page it's specified already. Last time it wasn't there, I swear XD
jack1974
No indeed it wasn't, but I thought to add that text so people buy safely know they'll get their Steam key as soon as it's available there :)

Off the record: Playing SheaxRiley and AltheaxJariel in prude-mode will still have them dress up in the pool. :P

With SheaxKrimm: If you play from the achivevements page, you'll have Krimm wearing bikini top through the whole time. If you play from a savefile she doesn't have a top until the CG-scene (and at that point, Shea's suddenly got pants on in the pool)

Easy solution: remove the prude-button completely! :D
jack1974
Haha yes removing the prude button would be the easiest solution indeed

In the first case, you mean that they kiss dressed up in the pool right? (I forgot to change the background into the bedroom).
fabulaparva
Yup, once they kiss/take bodily contact they are still in the pool but all dressed up all of a sudden.

Hmmm, if I neglect to assign attribute points immediately upon a level up is there a way to assign them between level ups? When playing the game it's easy to miss if you're characters have gained a level and if you continue the game without assigning attribute points it seems you've "missed the boat" so to speak. Well, at least until the next time your characters gain a level. It's a little bit annoying XD.
jack1974
No there's no way to assign them manually if you forget during level up, but they remain there and you can do it after EVERY FIGHT, so it shouldn't be a problem :)
rooke30
Ah, I didn't know that they are still available to be assigned after every fight. It's definitely a relief, thanks for the clarification.
jack1974
I got report by email that the assassin battle seems too hard even in Easy mode. I'm thinking to add a full heal in Easy, and partial heal in Normal. And leave Hard/Nightmare as it is 8)

I tried myself and was able to beat him in Easy mode... "easily", even with an heavy injured party and no healing items apart for Rowinda's Candies though!

My problem with the assassin was the following:

When he is out of mana, he is infinitely using bandages (or I gave up after he took the 30th of them) and I had only Shea and Althea (with SP regen +1) against him and no resurrection spells therefore it became an endless battle. Maybe remove some of the bandages or let him do something else from time to time to even the battle out?

Two other things I noticed

1. When you are saving more than the 11 tabs for save points (yes I save every decision/battle in another save slot) and you go to next there is no 12-20, it just stays 0-11.

2. Since when are skeletons able to bleed? Would be more realistic (ha, in a fantasy world) if they were immun against all bleeding spells.
jack1974
Strange, I never got him do that bandage thing because I always killed him down fast in Easy mode. But yes I can upgrade him to the new AI that will prevent the "bandage spamming" :)

About the other two issues:

1) yes, I am not sure how to change that since by default Renpy shows 10 pages only of saves  I'll try but not sure I can do that

2) well of course is not realistic, since even golem or ghosts and other enemies will bleed
outist
I'm playing normal only switched to easy once to win against the necromancer in season 1. And yes the bandage spamming came up twices and the third time I just gave my characters enough drugs/potions to not die so fast and then I killed the assassin really fast.
Troyen
I think the new AI might mess up nightmare balancing, because it tends to make enemies smarter. (Although he didn't bandage against me.) It might be safer to just disable the bandage ability on Easy mode. (But you can try, my NM save is in the other thread!)

Also, I think I filled up 20 tabs during one run of the game. You can still use Previous/Next to go between them, but certainly not as convenient as clicking a number.
jack1974
For the number thing I'll ask ren'py coder itself since I made several attempts today, but they broke the savegame screen

For the AI don't worry, I didn't add a lot of skills to him, and in any case isn't marked as boss so you can use the paralyze/bomb/etc stuff. Something that Nightmare players should do

In Easy/Normal I also added 50% healing before the battle, just to stay on safe side (all those changes will be on next update of course).
Troyen
At that point in the game, it's possible to have no Thief in the party. And the one or two paralyze skills are kind of worthless on most fights, so I doubt people take them. :P
jack1974
Yes but was just an example, to say that not being a boss is weaker in general :) of course is true that this game is harder compared to Loren but is on purpose, so I'll avoid reviews from RPGgamer saying "the combat is too easy"

I was able to beat him with this party in easy:

[youtubewd]v8QypsNAMUs[/youtubewd]

in practice I only had the candies I got from Rowinda in the main story, no extra potions. So definitely is not "too hard" in Easy!!! I used two special attacks but I would have won even just using basic melee attacks

Also, I think I filled up 20 tabs during one run of the game. You can still use Previous/Next to go between them, but certainly not as convenient as clicking a number.

As a NM tester/player who saves often (mid-battle saves when you want to catch a skill/AI bug *will* fill it up quick) + has tested for all the CGs and since the savegames stopped getting borked after act 2, likes to keep a lot of them at hand, I'd be just happy to get a button that takes me to the last tab with anything on it. Then there would be an easy access not only to the front of the line (by clicking '1') but also to the end. Imagine clicking that Previous and Next button while having 50 tabs and the save you want is near tab 40. And yes, I'm way beyond tab 50. :P

But...if such a button won't appear, it will stop being a problem, since I'll probably clear my list once the game is "officially out" and keep only copies of CG/personal quest saves in a separate folder "just in case". I haven't been requesting such a button earlier since a lot of my "too-many-saves-problems" have to do with testing and well, that will end in time. :) Having said that, this game is long enough to warrant more than 11 tabs getting used, even in normal play.
